Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day - May 2010

It's that time of the month again for Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day, where gardeners around the world let everyone know what's blooming in their garden on the 15th of each month. This is my third month participating in GBBD, and by far the largest diversity of blooms yet.

The true stars of the show right now are the iris. First up are several varieties of Iris germanica (Bearded Iris).

Dutch Iris (Iris hollandica) also started blooming this week.

Last, but not least, among the iris are the Iris sibirica (Siberian Iris).

The Clematis 'Rouge Cardinal' continues to display its best bloom year ever.

The long, cool spring has allowed the pansies and violas (Viola x wittrockiana) to flourish.

Several species are past their peak bloom, but still providing color in the garden.

Still other plants are just beginning to come into bloom.

Finally, a few bedding and container annuals are blooming.

By my count, that's 31 different species/cultivars blooming for this May 2010 Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day. How many plants are blooming in your garden?
